I've had plenty better.... The service was VERY slow and hardly handled English at all. The food was typical of the Mexico restaurants - very bland. Perhaps that is what Richmonders like? I honestly do not understand the over 9 average this place gets as it is really not that great. Try Don Jose's or El Paso and you'll certainly rethink the 9+ rating for the Mexico. The atmosphere was nice and the seating was comfortable enough though parking was a bit hard to find. PLenty of inside seating for family groups, but I wouldn't subject my friends to the blandness of the food or the exceedingly slow service.

Mexico drips authenticity like a real taco should.. The Scene
Comfy booths, a separate smoking section and great Mexican food make you feel like you're in Mexico. The food comes out fast and hot--right after you've already inhaled a basket of chips and salsa. You did come prepared to eat, right? What to wear, who to bring: Anything goes here. Shorts and T-shirts are fine, yet you wouldn't feel uncomfortable in khakis. Bring the family, because Mexican is cheap (the chips go a long way). Huge sodas with free refills will keep the kids quiet.

The Food
Aside from the free chips and salsa, the fajitas are flavorful and cooked appropriately (order a side of rice if you go in for that). Try the chicken soft tacos, built with just enough onion and guacamole. The quesadillas, the Mexican food equivalent to a grilled cheese, are also noteworthy.

Mexico es muy bien. Not only is this the best Mexican restaurant, It's the best restaurant period. The food is wonderful, the service is great, and it's CHEAP. I eat there at least once a week!

Killer Arros Con Pollo. Great service. Always seated and chips and salsa brought promptly. Staff faces never change. Try the Arros con Pollo or California Burrito - Chicken!

hmmm!. Everytime we go to Richmond I make it a point to go to Mexico Restaurant. Food Great but the staff do make you feel as if you may be bothering them.

I usually have to chase them down and ask for another beer or salsa. But, the food makes up for the lacking service.
