What's in Store – Fabulous, archaic, can't-find-it-anywhere-else clothes from eras gone by. Hats, jewelry, shoes, sunglasses--it's all arranged in beautifully organized chaos, and the hippest shoppers simply can't resist. To add flair to the shop, vintage tunes are played on a vintage radio, so there's no mistaking where you are and what you're shopping for. Who's buying: trendsetters too cool for the mall, moms who can't let go of their '70s garb and anyone who needs a costume. Clothes are arranged according to decade of origin, so if you know what you're looking for, you can go…
can't believe it

best vintage store in Richmond. Totally a throw back to lower east side vintage in the 80's. It is that good. Plus they have a lot of product that is not vintage. Sunglasses, hats, locally made stuff. I can't believe someone said they had bad customer service. They are the cutest and most helpful of anywhere. Go for Christmas gifts!
- Pros: playing dress up
- Cons: only one of them

Hey Shoppers, Yes, this is a great shop, fantastic selection, they even have vintage new items, that is, clothes made new but on the style of the old stuff. Beautiful.
I would shop there time and again, but only if I do not have to special order something. If you see it there, buy it, new or old. But beware if you must special order something.
Here is why.
I had a wedding to attend. I found the perfect dress at Bygones, and needed a different size.
They said it was not a problem to get my size, in plenty of time for the event. I offered a deposit, none was taken. They assured me the order would go through. It did not. I called 4 times, and no dress. Each time I was told it was on the way. The clock was ticking to the wedding time.
There was no follow through on this, I was shuffled from person to person, nobody seemed to care...I had money in hand , and wanted to purchase. I suppose they just did not take me seriously. I did not get that dress, and had to rush over to ugh, of all places a mall store and buy my second choice dress, not being able to find anything else like the lovely garment that was supposed to arrive at Bygones by their caring staff. Obviously, they don't care enough. Nobody cared to call me that finally, they got the dress...well after the date of the wedding. I may have purchased it still, but since I had to call them, just to see what happened, I was more than a bit annoyed at the poor treatment I was handed.
I have not been back since, but I yearn for the old stuff , so I may give them a try again. I have several purchases from there, I guess they don't remember that I was a returning client. Too bad for them, I am sure that I would have spent many dollars in the time that I have avoided their shop. Wonder how many others there are like me.
However, it is good to try again, and so I will. Wish me luck!
- Pros: Lovely environment inside, great selection
- Cons: The staff (or owner) only pretends to care. Actions (in my case) spoke to the opposite.
