The noise, the colors, the outdoor deck that overlooks Cary Street: It all adds up to a great dining experience at this hip Mexican eatery. Nacho Mama's tends to be very busy during lunch, but if you show up after the rush ends you can easily score a table. This is a great place to take someone you want to impress but who doesn't mind seeing your funkier, more playful side. Besides, Nacho Mama's Cary Street location makes it possible to window-shop after dinner.
The Food
Whether you order a plain cheese quesadilla or something more unusual, you won't be disappointed--everything here is fresh. You'll love the typical Mexican fare, but the chunky, spicy salsa is guaranteed to keep you coming back for more. Splurge on the fried ice cream.

If I'm craving Mexican or margaritas, I head over to Nacho Mama's where the food is good, prices reasonable and the drinks are cold. I especially love the huge variety of margarita flavors they have available. When the weather is nice, it's great to sit out on their wood deck and people watch. I definitely recommend going!

A group of friends and I went to Nacho Mama's during the Watermelon Festival this past weekend 2008. We of course understood how busy it would be and it only took about 20 minutes to sit. When we first arrived I ordered 2 watermelon margaritas and the manager gave me 2 lime ones. After taking a big gulp and realizing it was lime, I took them back over to her and her response was, "the watermelon wasn't ready." I was amazed at how arrogant she was. I asked if we could get the watermelon when it was ready and she quickly snuffed me by taking someone else's order. When we sat we asked our waiter for the watermelon flavor and explained that we didn't want the lime and we shouldn't be charged...we ordered soon after we sat. Had to ask for our chips to be re-filled (which never were) cancelled the queso that never came and received our meals about 45 minutes after we ordered. We were so starving we scarfed the food but my chicken burrito was very dry and I needed 2 salsas to wash it down. Got the bill and decided we didn't want to wait to fight about the damn margaritas we said we would not pay for. The waiter even made a comment that his manager sucked and he hated working for her.
