Editorial Review for Carytown Burgers and Fries – by Patrick Rooney
The Scene
The building is nothing special, and the small upstairs is the only seating area inside. Arrive early enough on nice days to score one of the outside tables. The view of the surrounding plaza allows for excellent people-watching.
The Food
While Carytown Burgers isn't the most hi-tech operation in the world (they take orders on paper bags), they certainly know how to make ground beef sizzle. That goes for the veggie variety, too. The chicken sandwiches are delightful, healthier alternatives to the patty. Fries are not to be skipped. And remember to try the chocolate malt--the perfect post-patty dessert to cleanse your palate.

I have been there numerous times & over the the years the place has gotten just plain nasty. My last visit will definitely be my LAST visit. After we odered our food we walked up up the filthy stairs to the even more disgusting "cozy & bright(according to website)" dining room. Old food bits & dead flies on the window sill that looked weeks old(actually old food bits everywhere ), dried ketchup on the overflowing trash bin & walls. The salt & pepper shakers were so greasy you could hardly hold on to them. I was so disgusted that when we got home I found their web site & wrote of our experience. The website at the time said all comments or concerns would be answered. Ours never was. Their new site has no contact info to email concerns.
Cons: filthy dirty, worthless staff

Okay, I will admit the hamburgers and the sandwiches are pretty stellar here. They are hearty and juicy fare without being too greasy. The staff however, is another matter. My guess is they are either disenchanted hipsters, or yankee transplants, or both. They act like its a chore to wait on you. They don't even smile. You feel ashamed for even asking them for a coke. However, you will get very satisfying food here.
Pros: Food will satisfy !
Cons: The staff isn't too friendly
