Revealing Babe's. Here's the scoop about Babes. The more often you go? The friendlier the staff becomes. In truth, this isn't really a "walk in, Cheers for All" kind of bar. It doesn't cater to the stranger, but rather to the neighborhood strays that find themselves here from time to time, myself included. If you are from out of town? Be patient, and engage the staff. Your tips are welcomed! The surroundings? Typical gay bar. Nothing new there. But, the bartenders know virtually every drink in the book! So, if you are looking for a well-made drink in a relatively quite atmosphere, this is the spot for you. As for the clientele. Let me just say this, if butch is your wheelhouse, you won't be disappointed! All in all, a nice place to relax, have a drink and maybe meet someone if that is your interest.

Miserable Staff. I go to this bar to hang out with friends and also because it is the only lesbian bar in Richmond, but the service is horrible. The staff will bad-mouth you and each other til the cows come home.

Typical.... The place was in a great location. Music wasn't that great. To much old school mixed in. The women were typically 'clicky'. This bar had a small town feel to it. Too small town for Richmond. I've been in bars that have made everyone, new or regular feel welcome and this is not one of those places.

Babe's of cary town. They don't staff the bar well and everyone that works there is rude. It takes forever to get an order at the bar. And Yes I was tipping.The last situation that happen was where there were about 40 people in the club and they were closing. Rather than working on getting those people out of the bar faster. One of the Aholes came over and pulled our last 3 b@lls of out pool game. We were going to be done long before the crowd cleared but he wanted to be an ahole. We paid for the game he could have given us a few more minutes. It's not like we were forcing the place to stay open when there still were over 40 people in the place.

Food == Good

Music == Good

Service === BAD, Very unhappy staff and it shows!

Drunks Beware. They will kick your a$$ out! I know more ppl that have been thrown out of that place than actually go there anymore. Yes Babes keep that up and soon enough you wont have a soul left in this god forsaken city to wonder through the threshhold of your bar and spend money on your pathetic excuse for a bar... other than that its a nice place if you can stand all the evil conniving dks and fgs that go there. Food and drinks are good I know that for a fact. And yeah don't be an idiot and order meatloaf (who the hell does that at a bar anyways?) Sat nights fun and crowded. Bartenders could use a lesson in manners, yeah how about learn to say "thank you" or at least acknowledge my existance when I tip your a$$es.

Relaxed, inviting.... Last nite was my first time at Babes. I really like the atmosphere. Very friendly toward ALL. Last night (Tuesday) was Line Dancing... Damn! I haven't done that in a long time. I'd like to try out Karaoke on Wednesdays... since I karaoke all around town, but haven't at Babes yet.

I'm really hoping my experience with Babe's food last night was a fluke... 'cause it sucked!

Don't order the Meatloaf! But hey... Great Gin & Tonics!

Good improvements lately. If you haven't been to Babes in a while, you should go check it out. The management has done some improvements that really make the bar take a "step up." Flat screen over the dance floor bar to not miss an important game and the volleyball court has been spiffed up - new fencing and a new net. There are also a few more TVs above the pool tables. Great job! Keep up the improvements!

Fourth Friday's is where it's at. This is the place to be on the 4th Friday of every month. I love the bar food. They have the best chicken wings. Plus the bartenders know how to make a drank. On the 4th Friday of every month they have a Drag King show and it is the best place to be just to have fun. And afterwards it's Flashback Friday's, so you can dance even if you don't know how. It's a great environment with pool tables, beer and even a volleyball court out back (who knew?).

I'd reccomend it as a place to stop in and hang out with friends and just be yourself, whoever you are.

fun place to hangout. I have been going to this establishment for a few years now. Yes it may be a little run down, but hell, it's Richmond- what place isn't run down in the Fan/Carytown area? The service is great. Maybe if rude people who don't know how to tip wouldn't push their way to the front of the bar line the servers would have an easier job. The food is pretty good during the day, it's mostly Southern fare, at night it's the usually bar food. If you like fun, I would reccoment this place.

Place and Con tense. I just came back to Richmond to visit friends. I was horrified in the condition of Babes and the staff that works there. I used to come to this place back in 94 through 98.

This was a place where you could go straight or gay(lesbian) and have a good time. The food was excellent and the place was clean. Now it is run down and the place is a dump it's food is below par. Oh don't let me forget my feet stuck to the floor when I walked across the carpeting. Thank god I was wearing shoes not flip flops.

I used to know the owner of babes Daigo. She ran a tight ship and she had a good cook with great food.

This place use to have nostalgia as well as being clean.

When I ask the unfriendly bar tenders where was Daigo?? They sad who???????? I said the owner!!! She sad Vicki owns this place. That is all she had to say.

Daigo, I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!
