Tips for CapitolMac

May 11, 2013

My tip for Capitol Mac is to make sure that you keep the old things; the things that best buy, wal-mart and even radio-shack say they havent carried in years. The woman I spoke with was more knowledgable than I could have ever hoped for. I was promptly given everything I was turned away for at the previous locations, plus adapter that saved me a fairly large amount of money, which I used to get an apple tv whoooop

Phoned Capitol Mac for a minor service issue under warranty with my new iMac. No problem. Scheduling the repair ? They constantly put me off as a loaner was "out" or "needing repairs" or "unavailable" . OK.

This continued until my iMac was just beyond warranty.

Capitol Mac had said it was no problem, just replacing the ethernet port, they would still do it as I'd contacted them and registered the repair, etc.

Now, however, they can not find me in their system and are continuing to give me the run around. Perhaps I'll just chalk this up to "warranty work" though Apple recommended me to them.

The $ is not the issue so much as the poor service. Their first line customer communications are close to atrocious.

These guys are WONDERFUL. Professional from beginning to end. Totally pleased with their update to my Mac. Fast and excellent service. Prices were right on target. I will definitely use them again and have already recommended them to several people.

Glad I Went Here. I read the negative reviews and wanted to describe my experience buying my new Mac on 10/28/2010. I bought my first one at the Mall 6 years ago and have used them and the other independent local store in the past.

What led me to CapitalMac is my desire to keep my money where I live; in the city and to support small businesses so they will be there for personal support.

I enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and superb service from Meredith Brooks and the entire staff (they even walked my old and new computer to my truck a block away after the FREE data transfer).

My phone calls have been answered in about a minute from an associate and did I mention my data transfer was done within hours of the sale.

As far as repairs go, I'll have to post when that occurs. But, at 37 and having a small business, I know repair cost ratios. I trust the people at Capital and that means more than a slightly higher repair bill if that is the case. Better service normally means higher cost.

It's a shame bad experiences motivate more reviews than the good.

Nice help from Dheeraj. I'm in Baltimore and I found CapitolMac when I googled local Apple help because my iMac was not running right. This linked me to Dheeraj who got my iMac running smoothly again by switching email applications and installing a new operating system.

THEN my MacBook totally died. Dheeraj asked some questions over the phone then picked up my laptop to bring it in to the store. It turned out it needed a new hard drive -- fortunately it was still under warranty!

All of my dealings with CapitolMac have been courteous, professional and awesome. I highly recommend them and it would be great if they open new locations up in Baltimore.

It would definitely be great, wouldn't it?

No further comment. ;-)

Wasn't good for me. Went to them for an estimate of repair of my iMac. They said it wasn't worth repair. I went elsewhere and the repair was within my budget. So they were right about the parts needed but their price was too high.

excellent experience. Nothing not to like about this place! I had a broken old laptop (cracked display, insufficient memory and other bugs). They took it in, explained precisely the problems and my options, then fixed it extra-fast when I said I needed it a day earlier than their estimated repair time. Also, they're close, local, and an all-around more pleasant experience than some big store in the mall. I will go their for all my mac needs from now on!

totally painless experience. My iphone wouldn't synch with my macbook and when I called Apple they said I didn't have enough memory. I'd been to the apple store before but the guy on the phone said these guys were here too so I tried it because I live nearby. I called first to find out if they had the right kind of ram for my macbook because I don't know what kind I need and they looked it up and told me it was in stock. I was there within an hour and they not only got me what I needed, explained what the memory was (I thought it was space I had used up) but they installed it right then and there (for FREE) so that they would know it works. I had expected it to be a big to-do but it was totally a breeze.

Also for what it's worth, they were WAAAYYY calmer than the apple store.

Horrible experience. What a horrible experience is was dealing with these people! First the said me computer wasn't worth fixing and that I should get a new one. Then when I insisted they said that the parts wouldn't be available for about two weeks. Then they said that the parts didn't fix the problem and that I would need to pay for another part that "might" fix the problem.

I was disgusted and got my machine back after paying a bill to NOT fix it. I went to the Apple store where they referred me to another place on Broad St. There they fixed my machine in 20 MINUTES! Neither of these other places charged me a dime.

So BEWARE of Capitolmac! They say that they have been in business since 1984 some places, 1989 some other places yet it seems that the company that owns them now was formed last year.

Bad Times here. I took my Mac Pro here to get a hard drive replaced. They didn't do it and instead told me some software needed to be reset. When I took it back a second time (in 5 days) they thought it might be something other than the hard drive. I took it to Macpro and they replaced my hard drive, transferred my data files and only charged me $100.00 in labor. Capitolmac charged me $50.00 to not fix it.
