Terrific Experience All Around!. Decided to try Scissors Hair Studio after reading the reviews here on city search.

I have very curly hair and when my stylist moved away from Richmond I had a couple terrible experiences with stylists telling me they know how to cut it.

Trying this salon based on reviews was a risk that turned out the be well worth it!!

Simone and Alyson were wonderful. From the minute I walked in the door I liked the place. Eclectic, relaxed atmosphere with friendly, warm, geniune people.

Simone was my stylist for the day. I watched as she finished up the client prior to me. Then she sat with me for about 15 minutes or so to check out my hair and talk with me about what I was looking for in a style.

She listened and offered her expertise.

Needless to say, I walked out of there a happy customer with a fabulous hair style.

I will be returning on a regular basis!!! I only hope Simone's schedule doesn't get completely filled after reading all the fabulous reviews here on city search.

As a guy, highly recommend!. This past Tuesday, with a impending trip to headquarters, I needed a last minute haircut. Simone was able to fit me in. Instead of just giving me a trim, she took the time to look at my hair and recommend a new look for me. She told me it would be lighter feeling, look fresher (aka younger), lower maintenance, and shorter prep time...as a guy, how could I object to this? Afterward, Simone took the time to carefully show me how to prep it. After a few days now, even with my limited skills and patience I'm able to make it look almost as snazzy as Simone did. And the results speak for themselves: all the ladies at work (any my other ladyfriends) think it looks great. Further, yesterday i went for an 8 mile run in the heat and the cut definately kept my head cooler. So now I'm ready for my trip!

Awesome Hair Salon. After moving to Richmond from NJ 5 years ago, I have struggled to find someone to cut my hair. The struggle is now over after finding Scissors Hair Studio! Simone was fabulous - took the time to find out what I was looking for in a hair style and explained how to take care of my hair. Allison was very friendly as well and the follow up call to check on my new cut was something no other salon has ever done! I have received so many compliments on my hair since getting it done at Scissors! I Can't wait to go back to get my hair colored :)

Great Hairstyling and Airbrush Tanning. As always, Simone does a great job styling my hair and working with my picky limitations to give me great styles without crossing any lines I'm uncomfortable with. Before I came to Scissors, I had never had a real "style" in my entire life, but everyone at Scissors really works hard to give you something you can be proud of even long after you've left the salon.

Allison has always done my air-brush tans and she is always cheerful, professional, and very knowledgable about the process. She has always gone out of her way to assist me and make me feel very comfortable during the entire process and makes a point to talk to me and make sure I'm doing well whenever I'm at the studio to see Simone for my hair. Her smile is actually quite infectious so even if you're feeling tired going in, you'll feel much better while you're there.

I've never had a reason to not enjoy my visit to Scissors and I recommend them to everyone.

Best Cut and Color I've Ever Gotten. I've spent the last 10 years living in DC, LA and London. I've gotten my hair done in numerous places in all of those cities. Simone at Scissors beats any of them. My hair was a mess due to months of over coloring by other stylists. I figured it would take several months of work to get it looking OK, but in one appointment, it looked better than it ever has.

Simone took the time to talk with, understand my lifestyle and issues with my hair. The cut and color are terrific. She is a real pro. The salon also has a wonderful, friendly environment. It is a pleasure to spend time there.

Scissors Hair Studio - Fantastic. Simone as Scissors Hair STudio is an artist with hair. I have been going for a little over year, and have had the best haircuts ever.

In fact, I have been talked about for a promotion at work but it was stalled. After a few visits to Scissors, people at work noticed me more and took me more seriously. Happy to say, the promotion is in the works !!!

Amazing. I live out of town and could only do my bridal pictures on a Monday, the day the salon is closed. It wasn't a problem! The ladies came in on their day off to make me look amazing. My hair was so beautiful, it was even better than I had imagined. I don't wear make up, so I was a little nervous about getting it done. Allison was great going step by step and making me just look like a more beautiful and polished version of myself. My nails were perfect and still look perfect a week later.

I am pretty confident there is no other salon in Richmond that would call in their staff on their day off. Customer service is number one, and my hair looked better than it ever has. Both times I have gone in they made me feel like I was the most important client! I feel so lucky to have found them to make me beautiful on my special day. This may be the one thing about my wedding that I don't have to worry about. I know I will look amazing!

Outstanding experience every visit. I discovered Scissors a few years back, and haven't gone anywhere else since.

I've changed my hair cuts and styles throughout time, and every time I walked out the door I was more pleased than the time before.

The service and the atmosphere is great, although that's a given. The hairstylists continually stay up to date, and have always satisfied my needs... whether it's the same cut or something new.

Fantastic Experience and Cut!. Moved to Richmond in the early fall of last year and one of the first items on my agenda was to choose a hair stylist. Having the same hair style for nearly 20 years (or a similar style) I was reticent. Choosing a stylist can be one of the most important parts of moving to a new city and starting a new life.

Anyway, found Scissors online (it was close to my home) and went in for what I thought would be a simple haircut. Met with Simone. She sat me down for a consultation. I was ready for the same cut. She asked me a lot of questions about me and my style, etc. So after a great consult, she asked me if I was ready to try a slightly different hair style. I said yes before I could think twice about it...but I did it because I really felt secure with her and trusted in her knowledge and the fact that she was thinking about what would make me comfortable.

So 1/2 hour later....I had a much more contemporary hair cut, perhaps trendier than I expected, but it made my face look trimmer, it was circa 2011 and not circa 1991...and it made me look and feel fantastic.

As I styled it on my own and it has become part of me...I love it. Since moving here I have started working out, lost weight and feel so much better about me....and this style and cut really has helped me to feel better about me.

I love the energy in the salon and the energy of the stylists. Im glad I found Scissors....not sure what my hair would look like now if I had not.

I've had better. A lot better.... Color turned out OK- although [even though supposed to be permanent] it washed out after 3 weeks (only used the products I purchased at this salon- so, if you believe that is the reason, then perhaps you should stop peddling cheap products)- but it was good while it lasted. Haircut- not so much, though. Simone did not ask me what I wanted and just went at it. I was trying to explain to her what I wanted, but she just kind of blew me off. I thought: OK, surely, she knows what she is doing... Now I wish I was more persistant, as I ended up having to cut most of my hair off to fix her "20-some years of experience". Sad, considering that I worked very hard for 2 years to grow my hair out.

This place may be OK for someone else, but I definitely will not be going back- or recommending it to anyone else...

P.S.I find it completely distasteful how every time someone shares a less-than-perfect experience at this salon, bunch of Scissors' insiders jump them and bombard them with a plethora of excuses on how there is no way any of this could possibly happen at this salon and how we, the customers, are wrong for having these bad experiences. Despite of what you may think of us, we are plenty capable of assessing our experiences and knowing when they are inferior. Use the feedback to improve the services, not to harass the clients. Too much effort is spent on trying to convince anyone who will read that everyone who complains of bad experience at Scissors is a moron and/or a liar. Very uncool.
