The customer service is horrible. The girl in the office is plain rude, and she hardly cares about your problems. They take forever for any maintenance work (if they ever do it), but when they have to show your apartment to other people, or ask you for a hidden fee, they'll be at your door first thing in the morning. I waited for a year to get my keys changed, but when I mailed my key one day later at the end of my lease, she took part of my deposit even if the key was already in the mail and she had another copy for it.

Overall, their properties are really old, with rat problems, and not even clean. The girl at the office will do anything to take money from you, and it feels like they simply don't care about their customers. You'd be doing yourself a favor if you never call these guys or see their properties.

Trust me, they're not the cheapest in town, and you could have a better service with any other realtor.

SAFEST APARTMENT COMMUNITIES IN THE CITY. Virginia Lee Properties management goes the extra step to insure their tenants are kept as safe as possible by contracting with Capital Investigations which provides (among other things) armed security patrols for most of Virginia Lee's properties in the Fan area. The security patrol officers have full arrest authority as decribed in the state code of Virginia and is also on-call to the tenants during nightly patrol hours. Most of what the patrol does is check for trespassers, report on burned out building lights inside & out, report excess amount of trash accumilation inside and outside of building. Just the visible presents of a patrol car and a security officer actively checking the buildings is a deterrent to many a would-be criminal, it also gives the tenants (and the parents of its college age kids living their peace-of-mind) an extra level of security and increases the quality of living to one degree or another. When choosing an apartment community to move into in Richmond's Fan area (where anything can happen at anytime both good & bad) a building that has an active security patrol could very well be the deal breaker and ups the anty for those apartment communities who don't have it.

OK. I lived in one of the nicer apartments that have on monument ave. But I have seen some other apartments that they rent which are not that nice. The reason I am reccomending them is because they are not rude, generally stay out of your way. Sometimes maintenance takes a while to get things done, but the manintanence guy is pretty nice, so you have to call him directly and not try to go through the office.
