Sushi shines at this authentic Japanese doll house.. The Scene
Step inside this decorated doll house-sized room for instant Oriental ambiance. Red Chinese lanterns, colorful wall hangings and seven tiny tables create an intimate atmosphere for lunch or dinner. Best seats in the house? Sidle up to one of four bar stools and watch the chef prepare sushi on the spot. The clientele is eclectic, casual and comfortable with chopsticks.

The Food
This is authentic Japanese and sushi with a few recognizable old favorites (beef, chicken teriyaki and shrimp or vegetable tempura). Set lunch specials include miso soup, salad, California roll and rice ($7.95 range). Start with seven selections of Udon soups or head straight for the sushi. The hand-rolled sushi list is extensive and combo platters allow you to mix and match every conceivable combination. Stay authentic for dessert with green tea or cappuccino ice cream.

Cramped but tasty food. This is a very small restaurant and the wait could be annoying but the food is good and fresh. One of the better sushi places in Richmond

Too Fresh !. Sushi Heaven, Baby !

The freshest, best tasting sushi and sashimi in Richmond, bar none. Quaint and cozy atmosphere with excellant service. The prices are resonable too !

Sushi good, not great. I recently relocated to Richmond and found that Akida, while okay, is not great. I love sushi enough to continue to eat there at least once a week out of a lack of other options, but have found that it doesn't begin to compare to some of the truly fresh sushi bars found in Manhattan and other large cities. I don't want to discourage anyone from eating there, just know that it is slightly overpriced for the quality. The service, however, is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect.
