psst...hey man, wanna hear the best live jazz in Richmond.... The Scene
It's easy to go to this cozy Fan-area bar, sit in a wooden booth, have a great sandwich and completely miss out on what makes the place so special. You may see people passing your table, heading to the back and never returning. Hopefully you'll decide to go figure out where they're going. When you climb the narrow stairs, the jazz gets closer and when you enter the smoky back room, you'll feel like you've walked into a genuine speakeasy. Grab a table next to the band, sit at the bar or slide into a booth. Whatever you do, you'll enjoy the soothing atmosphere of the live jazz band jamming late into the night. The back room is open during winter, spring and fall months.





The Food
During the summer, come in for better-than-average pub fare at reasonable prices.

Disappointed. A group of 12 of us went out for the evening. We used our Entertainment Book to pick a place somewhat close to the Coliseum. Bogarts is more of a bar with a dining area. The tables had to be arranged in such a way as to block the rear staircase that created a traffic bottleneck.

There wasn't a non-smoking area. Our meals came two at a time and the first 4-5 people in the group were done by the time the last person got their food. We just made it to our show.

There was a larger menu selection in the Entertainment Book than on the dinnertime menu.

The prices were not too bad and the food tasted good but the overall experience left a little to be desired.
