Great lunch place. This restaurant has a great lunch selection to choose from. All of the food I have ordered has been delicious and who can top a salad bar out of a bath tub? Only drawback is that seating is tight. Better not have a problem with how your neighboring table chews. This restaurant is in a very quaint neghborhood that I enjoy looking at.

worth the extra $$. Although a bit expensive for a college student (like myself), this restaurant is well worth paying the extra couple of dollars. The salad bar-bathtub is my personal favorite, and the menu has much to offer. Service can sometimes lag a bit, but that is understandable considering the restaurant is always packed. The restaurant can also get a bit loud, due to the architectual acoustics of the one room setup. If dining on a Friday or Saturday night, reservations are recommended, along with ample time for parking, considering there is street parking only in the Fan. I highly recommend the Strawberry St. Cafe!

Best Example of a Fan-Style Restaurant in Town. What's a Fan-style restaurant? A small, privately owned eatery in the Fan (of course!) that could be cheap or pricey or in between but is always funky and off-beat with good food. No chains need apply. And the Strawberry Street Cafe is the defining example of this very Richmond restaurant type. I have eaten there at both lunch and dinner, and I have never had a bad meal nor bad service. I think it was the first restaurant in Richmond to have a salad bar, which is its claim to fame, and deservedly so. The only drawback is that parking can be a bear, especially at lunchtime, when off-street parking spots are hard to come by.

This Fan side street cafe serves a salad bar worth salivating over.. The Scene
Combine a quaint side street in a historic part of town, add a well-rounded menu, and you'll keep 'em coming back. Just enough Fan funkiness mixed with basic American classics to keep everyone happy. Tables of office co-workers dine during the day, and a mixed crowd of tourists, dating couples, families and neighborhood regulars all cram in for casual dining at night.

The Food
It may be a "hippie cliche" but the house Bathtub Salad Bar (crammed with specialty salads, fresh greens, sprouts, seeds and fruit, $6.95 all you can eat) draws repeat customers. Chef Ryland's homemade soups also have a following (sun-dried tomato and onion bisque, black bean, Chesapeake crab and broccoli). You'll see special touches at night. The chicken pot pie is made with all white meat chicken and the Southwestern marinated pork chops are topped with a tomato chutney. And the final cliche? You can still get a damned good quiche (Chesapeake crabmeat and Swiss cheese).

Wonderful. I brought my father here from out of town, but I had never been here before. It was great! The salad bar had some wonderful food, and our entrees were so good I couldn't stop eating my chicken and helped him out with his jambalaya. The dessert was fantastic, too. The atmosphere was so inviting, and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. I will be coming back over and over again!

Wonderful. Very few places become an instant classic after a first visit...but Strawberry Street is classic. This is the type of Restaurant you take your out of town mom or dad to. The brunch (actually the omelettes) is amazing, and the sandwich, soup, etc. is excellent. The atmoshere is on par with the down to earth menu with a great bar helps round out the experience. Also, check out the amazing art nouveau stain glass and iron work.

Delicious. I have been to the Strawberry Street Cafe about five times in the last four months, and I am always pleased. Although, the parking and the wait can be frustrating sometimes, the food is consistently beautiful. The portions are generous, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. What more could one ask for?

Everything done right. Delightful surprise. Pleasant surroundings, good service and well-prepared food too. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal - very unusual for that group. Highly recommended.
