I'll Never Eat Here Again.
I went with a friend and her parents. My mashed potatoes were so salter they couldn not be eaten. Also the Chocolate Torte was dry. I told out waitress, who was apparently also the part -owner about it and she did NOTHING to rectify the situation nor did she offer to take the price of the item off.
They put the bill together (though we told them to seperated it with her parents on one and each of us on seperate bills). When I informed them of this and told them of the necessity to split the bill, they then used their discretion to charge us 18% Gratuity on our party of 4 becuase as they stated on the menue "They reserve the right to charge 18% gratuity to any party at any time". I will NEVER go back there again.
Disappointed. I was excited to try this after reading the reviews. Overall it was very disappointing. The Caesar, while simple (just romaine and croutons) was great. My entree, however, was extremely bland. Simple salt would have been and improvement. I had pasta, and it needed parmesan and none was offered or supplied. In all, far better restaurants in Richmond.
Great experience overall. Ave. 805 is one of the best jewels in the rough in the Richmond. A tiny place with excellent ambiance, food, and service. Chef Andy Howell and his staff have a way pf making you feel welcome and at home. Make sure you are hungry when you go, as the portions are huge and delicious. The menu has a portion that never changes and another that changes on a daily basis. The "Cheap Date Night" is a great value for you and a friend. Great place for a couple to spend a quiet romantic evening. Make sure you try the Ceasar Salad, and any of his entree's (all outstanding) and Creme Brulee for dessert! Worth the trip every time.
I love this place.
Andy again proves that he kows how it's done.
Don't change a thing
He Does It Again. Chef owner Andy Howell once again impresses. As a former Richmonder I was a huge fan of Zeus Gallery Cafe. A recent visit from LA was yet another opportunity to sample his evolution into California-esque food. This is the restaurant experience that is at once elegant and familial. The wine list reflects the personality of someone who clearly enjoys wine although it still focusses on the basic varietals that Richmond customers are most comfortable with - good, but a little weighty and not always food friendly. If you're in Richmond for whatever reason - whether you're a resident or visitor - this is a definite must visit.
