Worst Tex-Mex in town. This generic tex-mex joint needs to disappear from RVA's culinary landscape 1. Food is scary and is over-priced. Velveeta cheese, come on? 2. The owner has anger issues and might just lay you low dare you offer him a suggestion about the subpar burritos and service at his establishment. 3. Despite profiting handsomely from the VCU family, the owner shows utter disregard for our beloved Rams. Right as the Sweet 16 game against FSU was about to start, he had all the tables from the main dining area removed, cranked up some bad techno music and told shocked VCU fans (and Spiders) that they could go watch the game somewhere else! while he held his silly dance party! First and last time I eat a bad buririto at Bandito's

Great food for the money. Friendly wait staff. Excellent stuffed burritos at a great value. Nice place to grab a drink after work. Half bar/ half sports bar atmosphere. Can get pretty wild and loud after 9:30 p.m.

Avoid at all costs. Our group of ten guaranteed our server 18% which she took as her cue to alternate between surly indifference and outright rudeness. Even the non-smoking area was smoky. The music was blaring. The food? I've had better from a can. I don't understand how so unsatisfying a restaurant can stay in business, but the pervasive smell of stale beer gave me a hint. It's better you go hungry than go here.

Bandito's.... ....used to be better when it was on Cary. It had an edge to it that made you want to stay 'til closing. Now the yuppies and screaming baby crowd has moved in and made it a lot more crowded and chi-chi. I used to enjoy having burritos and beers without bracing myself for little kids slamming into me or to hear friends say things over the ubiquitous sorority girls doing the cell yell.

PROS:

The food's still the best Mexican in town and their selection of beers is tough to beat. Plus, the hot tattooed waitresses are worth the visit.

Great Bar. The food is not too bad, but for Mexican cuisine it is kinda pricey. The bar is great though, the staff is friendly and the beer selection is grand. Always a fun place to hit after work.

Enormous, artful burritos to die for.. The Scene

Longtime downtown residents will no doubt remember 733 W. Cary Street as the ill-fated spot where many a bar/eatery had tried--and failed--to secure regular customers. But that was before Bandito's came along. Bandito's is always packed on the weekends, as many bars in the VCU area are. But Bandito's is different in that it seems to represent a true cross-section of Richmond. It has a relaxed, cool atmosphere that seems to appeal to everyone.

The Food
The food is fantastic. Enormous burritos are especially tasty and pretty--they're brightly wrapped in green and red tortillas with an artful zigzag of sour cream as a decorative accent. Crave a more secluded spot? Try the kitschy El Diablo Room. The artful blend of style and delicious substance finally prove that a winning formula can make any space a happening place.
