The Scene
The biggest reason to check out the Baja Bean Co.: its outdoor deck often has live entertainment on the weekends. On a nice evening, the cool breeze and savory food blend to create a charming dining experience. This is a great place to bring a friend you haven't seen in awhile, or a first date. The noise level is bearable, but there's enough going on that the atmosphere can make those silent pauses in the conversation a little less awkward.
The Food
Spicing up the traditional Mexican fare are California touches and Southwestern twists on what you'd expect from south of the border-inspired entrees. The extensive list of margaritas are the perfect companion to the salsa and seasonings at Baja.

The only thing good about this place is the ski ball. worst mexican/ whatever you would call it ever! the patrons are a bunch of dirty hippies, or preppy u of r dorks. The staff thinks there too cool for school. Everyone employee thinks there the greatest, and better then you. Except the cute bartender girl that's been there forever with the short brown hair. Boo on this place
Pros: ski ball
Cons: food food food, and staff

On a warm, lovely night in Richmond, this is a great place to go for drinks and hanging out. From other reviews, we expected the margaritas to be good and the food mediocre. We found the opposite. The margaritas were large and refreshing, but the frozen lime margarita was really weak on flavor - the mango better - so go with the fresh fruit ones - and don't expect an alcohol buzz. A large basket of warm chips greeted us, with a chunky tomato salsa that could have used a bit of spicing up, but was obviously fresh. Two of us had the chipolte shrimp, and it was a tasty platter of fresh cooked veggies, flavorful sauce on the shrimp, and a nice fruit/bean salsa. Some our our group also got the enchiladas and fajitas and there were no complaints from them. It seems there's also usually a good beer special - and prices were great for these beers. The hostess was reluctant to put us (5!) at a table on the patio for drinks only - as initially we thought we would not be doing dinner. She also gave us a little static when we wanted to change tables - though another group did exactly that. With a little more customer focus, this is not a bad place to enjoy an evening outside, the sidewalk scene, and a reasonable dinner.
Pros: Nice patio, good beer prices
