No Reciept, no return.
For all the talk about this "venerable" Richmond business, I don't think they are the lovable old school store that once garnered rave reviews.
I recently bought a few items there and tried to return two items (bought too much weatherstripping). Unfortunately, their policy is no receipt, no return. If you are like me and do a large number of home projects (welcome to owning a lovely old house) there is no way that you keep all of your receipts. I'm in the hardware store 3 times a week. If I kept my receipts, I'd have a giant pile. Mostly, I'm buying project specific items and hardly ever have returns so once I move to a new project, I have no need to keep my receipts handy. While I'd like to support a small local business, the truth is that I need that business to be customer friendly. While Lowe's is a major big box store, at least they take returns and since they are two blocks away they will now get all of my business.
Since Plesants is not the cheapest hardware store in town, I expect them to be the leader in customer service. Unfortunately, they are not.…
