Great Entertainment average food. If you go to Godfrey's Restaurant go for the great entertainment, not for the food. My group had 5 people in it and the food was average. I had The French Toast, my banana was overripe and only good for banana bread, my hash browns were neither brown nor warm. My seatmate had the eggs benedict and the eggs were served hard and crispy around the edges; there was no english muffin under the eggs! 2 of my people had salads and they were not very large, they ordered a basket of bagels in order to fill up. The food is not the attraction you should go for. The menu prices are reasonable and the entertainment is great. I did not like the bloody mary it had to much Old Bay for my taste.
MOST FUN TO BE HAD ON A SUNDAY!!!!. Loved this place!!! The drag show was amazing...what great costumes, and some of their bodies are better than most woman's! Food was outstanding - Crab Eggs Benedict is HIGHLY recommended! Drinks were great - service (Dale) was FANTASTIC! There was even a straight guy (David) who had a ripped body and took off his shirt - awesome! Be prepared to spend at least $50 per person (this does not include the $20 I changed into ones for tips or the $10 I spent on a Godfrey's T-shirt!!) However, I will say the pricing for drinks, shots and food is VERY reasonable. Our waiter even got us some free shots (or someone else paid for them) The announcer is amazing (he ripped on everyone - can't remember his name but he is Dale's partner). I can't wait to go again, but be prepared to be VERY hungover on Monday! Great place to have a bachelorette party (there were 2 going on there when I went). Overall, completely amazing time! You have to do it at least once! :) I practically clapped the skin off of my hands!
Best Brunch.
The Drag Brunch is a total Blast! Kerry is adorable and very Classy! Dale is an awesome waiter but Jack leaves a lot to be desired. Jack dear... the "curmudgeon" attitude is okay, charming even in a quirky way... but you do actually have to WAIT on tables... all your tables. We waited forever for food and that's not so bad... we expected it... but you could have at least kept us in Drinks! For God's sake, I was at Godfrey's Drag brunch and I only had 2 Mimosas.... the whole time.... I should have been thoroughly sloshed when I left. But you hardly ever came to check on us.
The performers were great, as usual!
Glitzy and glamorous, the drag queens come out in droves for the best brunch in town..
The Scene
With its famously in-your-face drag show entertaining brunch crowds every Sunday morning, Godfrey's revs up crowds Saturday night and welcomes them back with style once the sun rises again. Weekend nights are more sedate than other late-night bars--perhaps because Godfrey's is more of a casual nightspot than a party zone. Here, Richmond's gay community begins and ends an evening out.
The Brunch
Even if hanging out at Godfrey's in the evenings isn't your scene, Richmonders both gay and straight love the Sunday morning drag brunch. Order your favorite breakfast food and it will be brought out by some of the most fabulously dressed drag queens in town. The show almost always closes with a finale in the middle of Grace Street. The crowd: Although you'll find both men and women, gay and straight, at Godfrey's, the clientele is mainly gay men in their late 20s to early 40s.
My favorite part of Virginia!. Godfrey's Drag brunch is, in my opinion, the best thing Virginia has going for it! The food is excellent, I recomend the eggs bennedict. The staff is pleasant, attentive, and a ton of fun. And the entertainment can't be beat. It made my time in VA a hell of a lot more fun. Kerry is the best!
