Constant major customer service issues.
BUYER BEWARE! I agree with previous posts about LaDifference. The showroom is excellent (great selection of quality furniture, some of it very unusual, and all well displayed) but there are CONSTANT ISSUES in dealing with La Difference. Delivery personnel are professional, even the furniture repair person did an excellent job. As a customer, we did not feel we were treated with respect even at a time when furniture sales are down over 53% due to the recession. When we changed sales persons, there was signifigant improvement in how the constant issues were dealt with.
We purchased three rooms of furniture as well as a seperate piece for another room and had issues with all the furniture for the three rooms; the furniture was from various manufacturers. The sales person acted like she was doing US a huge favor by allowing us to purchase from them and made frequent mistakes, especially in the financial area and notes section of the invoice (her version of reality); the second salesperson we dealt with had good customer service skills and kept us informed of the issues as they arose and issues certainly did arise frequently.
Verify that the price listed on the piece of furniture is the price written on the invoice--a very frequent mistake and always in their favor.
One piece of furniture from a set was fully paid for and scheduled for delivery but the evening before delivery LaDifference called and stated that the piece needed to be repaired and would not be delivered as scheduled; then they would not deliver it for weeks even though someone is home to accept delivery virtually every day. Other pieces of furniture were delivered MONTHS after the inital expected delivery date with one excuse after another. Furniture was scheduled for delivery, balance paid for, etc then we were informed that the pieces were actually for a different customer and our set would not be in for several additional weeks. When the bed was finally delivered, it had various mismatched pieces and could not be fully assembled; the delivery personnel left telling us the salesperson would call us to figure out how to handle it. The furniture to put in the fourth room, a single piece, we had no issues with.
Other online reviews state the same contant issue(s) and excuses we dealt with so it appears that it is an ongoing problem with LaDifference. This is the first online review I have written but the problems we encountered were so ongoing and frustrating that I felt I had share our experiences. I would recommend La Difference only if you wanted to view a particular piece or set of furniture before you purchase it. I definitely recommend ordering elsewhere--you can get it faster and cheaper without sacrificing quality and without the constant issues and excuses.

Take one step inside this restored Shockoe warehouse and instantly feel creative. With three levels of soaring ceilings, sleek colors and a showroom that impresses more than it overwhelmes, you'll be tempted to sit on every funky sofa just because the fabric adds class to your behind. There's no reason you can't fill your whole house here--bedrooms, living rooms, office furniture, lighting and unusual accessories beg for your attention. Of course, pulling such a stunt will make your wallet beg for mercy--La Diff is tres expensive.
Head up to the third floor and check out the clearance area. You'll find a good selection of accessories, chairs and lamps there, and the prices don't carry such a huge sticker shock.

3 floors - all fantastic. Prices are across the board...saw sofas for $800 and sofas for $4000... just depends on what look you want (and where your particular tastes are).
Terrific building... old warehouse, great re-use. Really convenient to access from I95, and near lots of restaurants.
