Sophisticated American chain serves up corn-fed USDA prime cuts and New Orleans-style appetizers and sides..
In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.
Disappointing. I have been to Ruth's Chris restaurants at locations all over the country, and had never once been disappointed...until now. The filet mignon steaks were cooked to order, but the meat was fatty, bland, and definitely not worth the pricetag. The asparagas we ordered as a side was pale, flavorless, and overcooked. One bright spot: the mashed potatoes were quite good. Our server was nice, but since we were her only table on the outside patio, she kept forgetting about us. Which was a shame because we would have ordered a second round of drinks and dessert. In fact, we ended up eating our main course staring longingly at our empty wine glasses (a busboy brought out our entrees and we just assumed our waitress would eventually check on us). Definitely not worth the $100 bill for two people.
Best steak I had in a while.. I went there on a spurr of the moment and a quick city guide searh, and I was greatly surprised. Both mine any my dates steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Reccomend the lolly-pop lamb chop appitiser. Great!
I use to love it too!. I love all the Ruth's Chris SH around the country too. I also loved this one until my last visit in January when the steaks were average, not outstanding. I will give it another try, maybe it was just an off night?
Is it just me?. I've been in Ruth's Chris in different cities (NYC and DC), and got used to rather good quality of food and service. Recent visit to local Ruth's Chris SH in Richmond was nothing but disaster. Despite the good service (kinda expected from this restaurant ) i was disapointed with food (never happened before). My steak instead of being medium came as well done, after me pointing out that its not what i wanted they didnt even offer to exchange it. I got used to see Ruth's Chris chain as respectable decent place to eat. I guess it's not true in Richmond:(
Over rated.
As always the staff, atmosphere and attentiveness is superb.
However, the food is just not doing if for me:
Steaks cooked as requested, but really no flavor .really wanted steak sauce to make it taste good. Steaks not as tender as I expected for good cuts of beef. (Filet, and Cowboy Ribeye)
To be honest, I have had tastier steaks, twice running at Ruby Tuesday, and at $12.50 for the entire meal.
Steaks, just need something to gain flavor, maybe give customer option on garlic, peppercorn, etc. without adding cost.
Broccoli, steamed.blandno flavors
Bread, ok
Oyster Rockefeller's, ok not great. Oysters really small (but large shells)
Spiced cake, tasted like a hunk of sugar..where was the cake?
Turtle, ok only
Too much money for the quality of food.
The Best Restaurant in Richmond. This is by far one of the best restaurants in Virginia! Mouth watering and sizzling steak! Great seafood including live Maine Lobsters and excellent atmosphere. Historic old plantation charm and great bar!
The Best of the Best. This is one restaurant you can't beat. I have gone to many upscale steakhouses across the country and have truly found this to be the best (no matter which Ruth's Chris you are at). The certified angus steaks melt in your mouth, the service is outstanding, and the romantic atmosphere is out-of-this world. Yes, you pay the price for all of this, but it is well worth it. If you don't believe me, call for a reservation. They are always booked (sometimes a month ahead of time). That should speak for itself!
Still My Wife's Favorite. My wife and I frequently dine out and we have sampled many, many restaurants in the Richmond metro area. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse continues to remain at the top of our list. When you take into consideration the food, the elegant dining area, and the service, this restaurant never disappoints. Bookbinders, Buckheads, and Grey Swamp Inn are comparable with food, but Ruth has the rest hands down.
Mystery and great steak. Thwarted love, mysterious deaths and great steaks...how can you beat it! But don't eat for a day before you come! GREAT steaks, and _huge_ servings! We found entrees and sides couild easily be split among three people with some to take home. And don't try it without a reservation!
