Prices are absurd and staff is dangerously under-educated. The level at which they are price gouging due to the Newtown tragedy is shameful. expect to pay a minimum of 3 times fair market value for anything in the store, go to a big box store or the internet and you will get better service and much much better prices. There prices have always been too high but they are close by and i like to support small companies when i can, I know what I paid for items there less than a month ago and the same items have a 60% markup on them now! They say its because of the cost of the new resupply but I checked the suppliers and they did not charge more, so Bob's is clearly price gouging, I bet they had a party to celebrate the Newtown shooting and all the money they are making from it.

Want a better business??? Put Jack in charge,...he doesn't lie or make out like he knows everything about firearms !!!...I've seen some idiotic 'brown nosers' there in my opinion !!!...Grace, ...you know Jack is the best employee you have!!

A gun enthusiast's on stop shop. My husband and myself are avide gun collectors all the time buying collecting and ungrading our collection. Bob 's sport shop has become our shop or choice for the last 4 years. Prio to bobs we bounced around from shop to shop looking for firearms but once we found bob's our search was over. There selection has been constantlly changing never stale, advice and knowledge from the employees first rate, and with an in house gunsmith for repairs, and upgrades who could ask for more. I have read previous reviews but i have to disagree with the writers, between my husband and me we have a very extensive collection of firearms ranging from new pieces to highly valued collectibles that we are forced to store in vaults. I can tell you without hesitation that the only gunsmith to touch our weapons works at bobs sport shop. If he is unavaialbe we will do the work ourselves. And as far as the employees are concerned we have had great experiences with purchasing, finding of special pieces, trading of information, and over all service. We are all human and make mistakes but i bet if the gentleman that found out his purchase was not correctly represented was to approach the owner he would find satisfaction .I always have.

Do not bring your gun to be repaired here!. I brought a vintage 1911 Colt anepair was very poor..

The gunsmith put modern screws hexangonal which made no sense and was against my explicit instructions. They also made a mistake with the barrell linkage pin and did not peen it properly which created a safety issue. They held my gun for 5 weeks and made two gross mistakes. I will never get anoher repair or buy anything from this store. They did not resolve my problems and will be filing a report with Better Buisness Bureau.

Bob Moates Gunshop - ignorant or liars?. I patronized Bob's for over twentyfive years, but I will never go in Bob's shop again. My last purchase was an M1 Garand which Bob's son told me was WWII. I then talked to the manager, Richard, and he told me it was all WWII except that it had been rebarreled with a '55 barrel. I bought it based on the fact that it was a WWII rifle with a '55 barrel. When I got it home I found that the serial number indicated it was manufactured in 1955. I took the rifle back the next day and I was told that they would take it back, but there would be a $20 restocking fee.

Were they ignorant of the age of the rifle, or did they lie? Doesn't matter, they are a dealer and should know what they are selling.

Either way, the rifle was misrepresented and I should not have to pay a restocking fee for their mistake.

Bob is an honest man whom I have great respect for. I first bought from him in 1980. He would be very disappointed to know how his shop now operates.
