Editorial Review for Mulligan's The Fan – by Kristine Forrest
The Scene
Although each of the four locations has its own distinct personality, the Main Street spot has one of the best outdoor decks in town. Multi-level with huge TV screens, Mulligans remains one of the most popular places to hang out. The crowd is usually comprised of young sports fans, their eyes glued to the latest game, but you'll also find families in for a bite to eat.
The Draw
Like sports? Need a group that shares your enthusiasm? Show up for a major game and you'll suddenly feel like you've got 150 close friends all routing for the same team. A bevy of big screams and the upstairs deck makes this one of the hottest places in the city to catch any major sporting event.

So I went to Mulligans, a slightly-below-average bar on on W Main St. on a Monday night hoping to play ping pong with my girlfriend. At the most, there were ten people in the bar. There were three pool tables open: 1 was converted to a ping pong table and was being used by two people. The other two pool tables were not being used by anyone - and by anyone, I mean these tables were completely idle. No one lined up to play, no one even thinking about lining up to play. I asked the manager if we could place a ping pong table on top of one of the idle pool tables (the table top is sitting in plain sight of the pool table) and he said no. I asked him why, particularly because they were so very, very idle and he told me, "That's what the owner wants." I left, immediately, with my wallet. So, unless you are interested in doing exactly what the owner wants you to do on the night he (or she) wants you to do it, I'd skip this bar. No real character or hospitality - it's run by people who really don't understand customer service - and I've eaten there before and I promise you that all they serve is the same kind of re-heated CostCo food that every other slightly-below-average bar on W Main St serves. You aren't missing anything here.
Pros: No crowds, quiet, the female bartenders are friendly.
Cons: No Parking, Expensive, Male Manager is Not At All hospitable, degrading treatment.

Mulligan's in the Fan is my favorite place in the Fan District by far. Fridays and Tuesdays are Karaoke nights. They have some of the greatest servers in the city and the best doorman you'll ever meet. Highly recommended! Say hi to Freeze and Katie Anna while you are there!
Pros: Environment, Number of Televisions, NTN, Karaoke
