The Verdict
Platform shoes, disco-funk and afro wigs keep this group jive-talking.
The Scene
These guys are a party disco band with the accoutrements to match. They leave a trail of sweaty, danced-out bodies after they perform. Their funk-laden disco cover songs make most parties jump.
What They Play
Groove Spot plays disco covers of songs like the Gap Band's "You Drop the Bomb On Me," The Commodores' "Brick House," Van McCoy's "Do the Hustle" and, strangely enough, Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen." Of course they do the requisite "YMCA" and Bee-Gees covers.
Cheese Factor
Tip Sheet One of Richmond's Best
Nominated for Best Unsigned Band for the phat grooves and festive atmosphere created when they play.
Groovy Friends
Groove Spot has shared the stage with Cracker, 10,000 Maniacs, the Smithereens, Fastball, the Radiators and Toto.

Undoubtedly the cheese factor is in effect with a disco band (it's not 1975), but it's all about the party and disco makes the folks move. The afro-wigs, KC & the Sunshine Band covers and '70s getup ensure a laugh.
The Crowd
A solid mix of boomers looking for a flashback to their misspent youth and velour-draped, young hipsters on the prowl for something shagalicious. 'Patrick Rooney
